SAN DIEGO — Noah Coughlan started a coast-to-coast run February 28 in New York City and finished by running into the water at Ocean Beach on the 4th of July.

Coughlan’s journey was dubbed “Run For Rare” to raise awareness about rare diseases affecting 30 million Americans.

“I’m truly running for the one in a million — every life matters,” said Coughlan.

The California native had similar cross-country runs in 2011 and 2013. He is the third person to cross America on foot three separate times.

His last run took him 127 days through 13 states. He averaged 25 miles a day.

“The people of America are kind and gracious and good. I couldn’t be prouder to be an American – this is a beautiful country,” said Coughlan.
