Day 14 – Castlederg, UK to Letterkenny, IE

21 Miles.

(Posted pre-interview)

I am live California radio in 45 minutes with John Young on 95.3 KUIC as I check into my hometown. Listen live on www.kuic.com at 7:45AM Pacific Standard Time.

Just made it to the hotel. My shoes and socks are soaked. I am not completely waterproof. I am famished, eating a hot meal. Most of the day was rain, but some wide shoulders to run. The sun and a rainbow came at the end with some heavy wind the final mile.

Station House Hotel is very supportive and I appreciate the hospitality.

Day 14 is dedicated to Cori from Houston, TX battling MLD (Metachromatic Leukodystrophy), and her great-uncle Chris Seymour – founder of RunOverMLD.

Chris is one of very few to run 7 Marathons on all 7 Continents to help the MLD cause and his niece.

His recent interview with ABC 13 Houston.

An incredible effort to help #CureMLD.

MLD is a rare disorder that’s reported to occur in one in 40,000 to 160,000 people worldwide. This number is higher in certain genetically isolated populations. MLD is passed down in families, or inherited. Children must receive a gene from each parent to develop the disorder.

I’m impressed after stumbling across this gem of an old school barbershop in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. Thanks to Dylan and the crew at Mavericks Traditional Barbershop for a fresh cut before reaching the north Ireland coast finally tomorrow in Downings. 10/10 Top Knotch

And I bought some socks. I go through a pair a day and just throw them out. Too wet. No time to wash and dry.
